The works for the conditioning of the lighting in the town of La Asomada, in the municipality of Tías, have recently begun. The Minister of Energy, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, together with the Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, and the mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, recently visited the start of this work, which is highly demanded by the citizens of the island.

Jiménez assures that the main objective is “to reduce dependence on fossil fuels”, since the transformation of the lighting will eliminate the old luminaires for low-consumption ones. “La Asomada has been the beginning of a series of actions that we will carry out from the Energy area to achieve, in the near future, that all points on the island have low-cost luminaires,” explained Jiménez. Jacobo Medina valued the start of this work as “great news for the residents of La Asomada”.

“This work will entail the installation of 249 new low-cost light points, which will not only contribute to the planet, but will also considerably improve lighting throughout the town,” he explained. The project 'Improvement of energy efficiency and renovation of public lighting in the population center of La Asomada' is financed by the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN), and will be carried out within a maximum period of six months, with an item of "1,225,599.80 euros", plus IGIC.
