The Tabaiba Collective has denounced on social networks that a driver has taken his SUV through the dunes of El Jable, an area classified as a Special Protection Area for Birds. The Canarian houbara, a strictly protected species, nests in this area and is in critical danger of extinction.

In a publication on social networks, the Collective has added that "the lack of protection and surveillance not only affects tourist enclaves, but also natural areas frequented by locals."

In addition, it has recalled that in the SPAs it is "totally forbidden to circulate outside the delimited roads", since, in Lanzarote, given the lack of trees, birds nest on the ground.

"Crossing sand dunes with your SUV is irresponsible, but when the institutions have been promoting rallies to pass through there for years, what are you going to say to individuals?", it has been asked on social networks.
