The queues in the Timanfaya National Park, one of the most visited in the country, have returned to the center of debate after the increase in the influx of visitors experienced during Holy Week. Proof of this has been the videos that have gone viral on social networks since last week, where cars are seen accumulated at the entrance of this protected natural space, generating kilometers of queues on a general road that connects Yaiza and Tinajo.
Among the images that have gone viral on TikTok are the queues to access the Art, Culture and Tourism Center of Las Montañas del Fuego. One of the videos is from four days ago, last Tuesday. In it, you can see how hundreds of cars and visitors gathered on the main road, waiting to access the national park. This protected space, according to its Governing Plan for Use and Management, has a maximum capacity for 90 vehicles and six buses. However, there are many more vehicles than are actually allowed.
In this sense, another account shared two days ago, last Holy Thursday, how hundreds of vehicles were waiting again to access the park, blocking the main road. "Why don't they limit the tickets and sell them in advance online with a time? They should put some solution. This is not normal, more than two hours of queue to enter", shared the account Destinos Tachados.
It is not the first time that Las Montañas del Fuego have been at the center of the controversy due to the endless queues of vehicles at its entrances. Even the director of the Timanfaya National Park, Pascual Gil, highlighted that this space is "collapsed" and affected by tourist "massification".
