The haze that has been affecting Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands since the beginning of the week is also generating problems in air quality.

Such is the case that the data collected by Eltiempo.es have registered the presence of 2.5 micron microparticles in the air. Thus, the current state is unhealthy for sensitive groups.

In this way, people who suffer from lung diseases, allergies, asthmatic problems, as well as the elderly and children are at greater risk. However, the levels of particles collected during the morning of this Wednesday do not affect the general population.

On the other hand, the AQICN platform, which collects air quality in real time on the planet, reported that at 12:00 noon this Wednesday the air quality was moderate in Arrecife, Costa Teguise or Las Caletas. The air quality in the Archipelago is getting worse as you move towards the westernmost islands.

Thus, the presence of microparticles smaller than 2.5 microns is three times higher than recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
