The municipality hosted this weekend the Haría Canine Event 2026, an event organized by the City Council and the Lanzarote Presa Canario Club, in which more than 40 Presa Canario dogs from all over the archipelago participated. It brought together specialists, breeders, and dog lovers around a broad program of educational activities, exhibitions, and contests, focused on animal welfare.

The mayor Alfredo Villalba states that "this event served to strengthen the bond between pets and their owners, as well as to spend time in good company." Villalba points out that "these spaces are necessary to learn and raise awareness from an early age about the care and well-being of these animals."

For his part, the councilor for Animal Welfare, Marcos Lemes, thanks all the attendees who have come to enjoy family time learning about the health and care of their pets.

During the weekend, the meeting offered a broad program of activities aimed at promoting awareness about animal welfare, combining educational talks, specialized exhibitions, and contests of specimens. In its first edition, it had the participation of dogs from Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura.

The event began on Saturday, May 16, with various talks in which adults and children could learn and gain in-depth knowledge about the care of these animals.

The main day took place on Sunday, May 17, in the Plaza de Haría, where the canine exhibitions and contests were held. The tests
