ONCE will open a new headquarters in Arrecife. The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León Machín, has met with the top executives of ONCE in the Canary Islands. This meeting took place this Wednesday at the Mayor's Office. The mayor has learned about the National Organization of the Blind's projects for Lanzarote.

De León Machín received visits from the president of the Territorial Council of Once in the Canary Islands, Miguel Ángel Déniz, the territorial delegate in the Canary Islands, José Antonio López Mármol, and the director of the agency in Arrecife, Vanessa Mendoza.

These senior executives of ONCE in the Canary Islands have informed the mayor that this organization will soon open new facilities in the center of the capital of conejera, where they will have new facilities of about 400 square meters of surface area. This new headquarters will be in the center of Arrecife, in whose vicinity the City Council has executed modernization projects and provided accessibility.

De León learned firsthand that ONCE, which owns a hotel in Lanzarote, plans to install an industrial laundry on this island, which could be staffed by people with disabilities and be a comprehensive center, along the lines of other workplaces that this organization has in other areas of Spain.

The mayor told the executives that the city plans to "create a Free Zone in the capital that allows the installation of new companies and services", where the "tax incentives will be one of its competitive advantages to attract new companies" on the island. The ONCE Corporation has, as a strategic line, to support, among other sectors and investment lines, those linked to "Industry, innovation and infrastructure, and Sustainable cities and communities". The free zone that the City Council is planning for Arrecife will be linked to the "blue economy, and the innovation, technology and sustainability sectors".

During this meeting, the representatives of ONCE learned about the details of the current and future works that are planned in Arrecife to provide more accessibility to the streets and public spaces. Yonathan de León, who in addition to being mayor is the direct head of the Department of Public Works, announced that during this 2024 more than three hundred streets in the municipality of Arrecife will have crosswalks without barriers, and will be fully accessible, with the works that are underway.
