The Biosphere Reserve office, in collaboration with the Rural Schools Collective (CER) and the Teacher Training Centre (CEP) of Lanzarote, have organized the third public session of reflection and debate on the consumption of drinking water on the island.

This edition, under the slogan More tap, less plastic, will be held on June 5, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, in the auditorium of the CEP, with the participation of various technical expert profiles in the field.

Throughout the afternoon, issues related to the science, myths, disinformation, and realities of water in Lanzarote will be addressed, focusing on both environmental challenges and socioeconomic and public health opportunities linked to an efficient integral water cycle on the island.

The program will feature different presentations focused on topics such as emerging contaminants, their arrival in the human body and associated risks, the need to transform our dependence on this material, and the historical role of the desalination process in the development of Lanzarote.

The current situation of desalination as an employment-generating sector, technical training linked to the integral water cycle, and the importance of maintaining domestic installations, from the meter to the tap, will also be analyzed.

Speakers will include Rayco Guedes, from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Raquel García, from the Directorate General of Public Health of the Government of the Canary Islands; Aquilino Miguélez, from the Biosphere Reserve of the Cabildo of Lanzarote; Ginés Díaz, from El Sol de La Graciosa Energy Community; Santiago Dorta; Fernando Núñez, from Tritón Water Technologies; Baltasar Peñate, from the Technological Institute of the Canary Islands; and Justo García, from LOLAGUA.
