Lanzarote will be the epicenter of the international debate on sustainability and tourism in wine-growing landscapes with the celebration of the 10th International AgroEnotourism Meeting of the Canary Islands, which will take place from May 15 to 17. Organized by the Chair of Agrotourism and Wine Tourism of the Canary Islands, of the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality and the University of La Laguna, the event has the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through Turismo Lanzarote and the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism, as well as the City Council of San Bartolomé.

This edition will focus on analyzing innovative and collaborative solutions for the sustainability of wine tourism, with special emphasis on the management of protected agricultural landscapes, such as the emblematic environment of La Geria.

Among the prominent speakers are Emanuela Panke, president of the European Cultural Route Iter Vitis, and Giorgio Delgrosso, head of the Department of Statistics and Digital Transformation of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV). They will be joined by experts from Brazil, Portugal, the Canary Islands and other wine regions of the Iberian Peninsula, such as the Cariñena Wine Route, offering both a global and local perspective on the challenges and opportunities of agro-wine tourism.

The program will address key issues such as female leadership in the sector, local governance and citizen participation, as well as successful management experiences in unique wine-growing landscapes, such as Pico Island in the Azores. In addition, an academic forum will be held with two parallel rooms where twenty scientific communications will be presented on topics such as the sensory analysis of local products, digitization in rural areas or the potential of agritourism in intensive agriculture contexts.

The environment of Lanzarote will not only act as a stage, but as a practical case study, with technical visits to wineries such as La Geria and El Grifo, enogastronomic experiences, workshops on technology applied to the sector, and professional networking activities.

As a prelude, on May 14 a pre-meeting will be held with the presentation of the XII edition of the Enogastrotourism Awards of the University of La Laguna, which will recognize outstanding initiatives in this field.

In addition, registration to attend in person or by streaming continues open until the end of the month and can be formalized through the official website of the Chair: www.gestionenoturistica.com

This 10th Meeting is consolidated as a platform for the exchange of applied knowledge, the generation of synergies and the definition of joint strategies to advance towards a sustainable, resilient and innovative agro-wine tourism model in the Canary Islands and other wine-growing territories of the world.
