The association Sentirte denounces the lack of resources in the school transport for students in special needs classrooms in Lanzarote, a situation that is leaving minors without a place to travel to their assigned center and causing others to arrive half an hour late to their institutes. The entity demands immediate intervention from the Ministry of Education to guarantee a service adequate to the needs of these children.

According to the association's complaint, the insufficiency of resources from the transport company is causing students from special needs classrooms to join classes practically during the second hour, losing part of their educational day.

"These children are losing class time, educational attention, and necessary activities for their learning because the transport does not arrive on time. The lack of resources is shortening their school day and altering routines that are especially important for them," states the president of Sentirte, Lucía Gómez.

The association considers that Education must review the organization of the routes, demand the necessary resources, and supervise compliance with schedules. "The Ministry has to guarantee that the service works from the start of the school day. Families cannot bear the consequences of insufficient planning, and minors cannot continue to miss class," claims Gómez.

In addition to the delays, there are situations where a transport place is not even provided. Sentirte denounces the case of a minor from Argana, in Arrecife, initially assigned to a special needs classroom in an institute in Tinajo without a solution for their transportation. The family rejected that assignment due to the distance and lack of transport. Subsequently, Education assigned them to a center in San Bartolomé, where they received the same response: for the moment, there is no available place.

"A new center has been assigned to him, and it is still unresolved how he will get there. Education knows his address and his needs and must foresee the resources that make his schooling possible. This family needs a concrete answer and a date, not an indefinite wait," denounces the president.

Sentirte reminds you that the Order of August 2, 2006, includes the guarantee of school transport appropriate to the needs of students with disabilities. Likewise, the instructions for the 2026-2027 academic year consider students with special educational needs enrolled in enclave classrooms among the preferred beneficiaries and recognize the right to request transport when the center proposed by Education is accepted.

The entity demands that the Ministry directed by Poli Suárez resolve pending applications, guarantee adequate provisional alternatives, and reinforce the necessary resources to end the delays. It also claims that enrollment decisions should be coordinated with transport availability, especially when centers in other municipalities are assigned.

"Transport is essential for many of these children to exercise their right to education. Poli Suárez must provide a response to the families and ensure that everyone can get to their center on time and receive their full educational day," concludes Lucía Gómez.
