The IES César Manrique has made the decision to advance the departure of students to 12.30 hours in the face of the heat wave that Lanzarote is experiencing and that causes temperatures inside the classrooms to be very high due to the lack of air conditioning and fans.
In fact, this Friday the island is under orange warning for heat with temperatures that may reach or exceed 37 degrees.
In this sense, one of the mothers told La Voz that "at IES César Manrique we do not have air conditioning, fans or shaded spaces". According to her, the little shaded area in the patio is occupied by the works and it is a chaos between the noise of the radial saw, the heat and the little space there is".
According to what she said, the Ministry of Education met with the management teams of the centers to transfer the High Temperatures Protocol and "due to the beginning of the course, many teachers do not have the communication channels well established because in our case, the meeting with the parents will be next week".
And it is that the Government of the Canary Islands agreed this Thursday afternoon that each center, through the School Council, decides whether or not to suspend classes or, failing that, the departure time is advanced. "At what point can the centers hold a meeting with the School Council?", she asks.
