This Tuesday, March 4, the rains have made an appearance on the island of Lanzarote, leaving an uneven balance between the benefit for the Lanzarote countryside and the problems generated in the capital, Arrecife. While farmers celebrate the arrival of water, the streets of the city have once again suffered the consequences of the rainfall, with overflowing sewers in the most problematic areas.
One of the most affected points has been Las Cuatro Esquinas, where dirty water, loaded with waste and papers, flowed directly towards the Charco de San Ginés, generating concern among the residents and merchants of the area. In addition, in the Titerroy neighborhood, specifically on José Pereyra Galviaty street, the force of the water has lifted the asphalt, causing damage to the public road and complicating traffic.
In addition, in the La Plazuela area, the rain has caused a failure in the electrical network in part of the buildings. According to neighbors, it will be restored before 7:00 p.m.
It should be remembered that Lanzarote is on pre-alert for intense rainfall, which, according to weather forecasts, will continue until six in the afternoon. The authorities have recommended caution to citizens, especially in the areas most vulnerable to flooding, while the emergency services are working to mitigate the effects of the rains.
