Teachers of the Vocational Training (FP) degrees of the Canary Islands have called a demonstration to demand better educational conditions from the Ministry of Education. Lanzarote will also join this concentration that will take place simultaneously with Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and La Palma.
The demonstration in Lanzarote will start at 5:30 p.m. this Wednesday in front of the Casa Amarilla de Arrecife, on León y Castillo street.
Already during the morning of this Wednesday more than 70% of the teaching staff has gone on strike at the IES Teguise and some have demonstrated at the entrance of the center carrying banners on which phrases such as "Defend the FP" or "Public and quality FP" could be read.
These concentrations want to stop "the cuts that the Ministry of Education is carrying out in the FPs with the implementation of the Dual", explains Teno Osorio, FP professor at the IES Teguise.
"It is December 3 and the new application has not arrived, they have reduced many hours of the teaching staff and have removed all the innovation hours, not to mention that in the adapted FP they have gone from being two courses to being only one, so this student body will have less hours of quality training", he declares.
Osorio concludes by adding that "they only ask to be as we were before and that the Dual be done as they promised us because last year we had good meetings with the ministry but when September arrived, everything promised has fallen into oblivion".
