The Superior Headquarters of the Police of the Canary Islands reinforces its staff with the incorporation of 201 police officers in practice of the Basic Scale, who for one year will carry out their period of practices in the different police stations of the islands, 111 in the province of Las Palmas and 90 in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The incorporation ceremonies have been presided over by the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana Padrón, and the Superior Chief of Police in the Canary Islands, Jesús María Gómez Martín.
Specifically, 81 agents in practice will complete their period of practices in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (46), Telde (20) and Maspalomas (15). Meanwhile, the rest of the agents are joining the staff of Puerto del Rosario (12), Arrecife (18), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (35), Puerto de la Cruz (15), La Laguna (10), South of Tenerife (20) and Santa Cruz de La Palma (10).
The police officers belonging to the XL promotion of Basic Scale, will serve for 12 months in the different police units after completing the theoretical training period, where they acquired knowledge in multiple subjects such as criminal and procedural law, investigation, scientific police, languages, personal defense or police shooting among others.
They will serve in the provincial, local and district police stations, integrating with the rest of the national police officers assigned to the different units, carrying out together with them the work that is usually carried out by the judicial police, citizen security, complaint offices, information, immigration and scientific police groups.
In addition, a total of 196 agents have also been incorporated through the General Competition of Merits 8/2025, who are already serving in the different staffs of the province of Las Palmas (123) and the province of Tenerife (73).
These 201 agents in practice and 196 agents belonging to the General Competition of Merits, represent a considerable reinforcement in all the Police Stations of the islands in which the National Police is present, both for Operation Summer and for the safety of the Canarian population.
