Report the overcrowding at the El Cuervo Volcano: "The island is dying of success"

The number of tourists arriving in Lanzarote has not stopped growing in recent years. So much so that last January a record number of arrivals was broken, with 10% more travelers at the island's airport than in the same month of 2023. This situation has brought with it an increase in the number of people who believe that the island of volcanoes is an increasingly saturated space.

The latest incident took place this past weekend. The Instagram account el Rebenke Conejero has denounced on social networks how the parking lot of the Volcán del Cuervo has been filled with vehicles this Saturday, so several vehicles were parked in one of the lanes of the road.

"Images of the overcrowding of cars suffered daily by the parking lot of the Volcán del Cuervo and cars parked in a row in the middle of the road. What the hell is this? Where is the Police?", criticized this user on social networks.

To conclude, El Rebenke has pointed out that "at this rate, there will be little volcano left for future generations". At the same time, he has pointed out that Lanzarote cannot take any more, it is all collapsed. El Volcán del Cuervo, Timanfaya, Las Grietas, El Golfo, Famara and practically the whole island is dying of success".

Garbage on the island

At the same time, the environmental group Tabaiba has also denounced this weekend the garbage that accumulates on the margins of Lanzarote's roads. Hundreds of cigarette butts, beer and soda cans, as well as garbage bags, shoes or clothing remains. "It is incomprehensible and intolerable. There is a lack of awareness and civic-mindedness. We should be the first to respect and care for our environment. It is not so difficult", they have pointed out.
