Canal Gestión has responded to the statements of the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, in which he made public a report in which the company's "serious breaches" of the contract were pointed out.
In a statement, the company states that "it has not received, to date, any official communication from the Cabildo of Lanzarote or the Water Consortium in relation to the alleged breaches attributed to us in the execution of the contract for the management of the integral water cycle in Lanzarote and La Graciosa." "All the information we have on this matter comes from the media and, consequently, we have formally requested that the complete file be sent to us in order to know in detail the points that are being questioned. In fact, as of today, we still do not have the required documentation," they state.
"We understand that these discrepancies should be addressed in the Monitoring Committee, which is the appropriate forum to discuss any matter with the contract. In fact, we are surprised that in the only session of this committee convened this year, held on August 26, just a few days before the press conference, this point was not included in the agenda," Canal points out.
Canal Gestión has requested an urgent convocation of the Monitoring Committee, "in order to elucidate the alleged breaches and be able to discuss the controversy generated within the corresponding body, which is still the assigned space to monitor and control the contract."
Finally, the company "reiterates its full willingness to collaborate with the Cabildo and the Water Consortium in resolving any discrepancy that exists. We trust that the institutions involved will act with due diligence and responsibility."
