Arrecife will have renovated playgrounds in 2024. The Arrecife City Council continues with the work to improve and adapt all existing playgrounds in the capital of Lanzarote. With this plan, the existing playgrounds will have new safety floors or rubber floors to guarantee the protection of certain areas and surfaces, avoiding the risks of possible injuries.
The improvement and renovation of all playgrounds was a demand of the families that reside in Arrecife. All the children's areas are on surfaces with rofe (lapilli) that, from now on, with these works, "are being removed and replaced by new continuous pavement."
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, accompanied by the vice president and councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, and the councilor of Parks and Gardens, Roberto Herbón, have visited the Altavista neighborhood, where the Consistory has concluded the renovation works of this playground, with a plan launched last autumn.
From the City Council of the capital, through the Children's Parks Area, it has launched various actions of conditioning and improvement in all public playgrounds, with the aim of guaranteeing and enhancing the safety of the smallest of the southern municipality. After these works, the adaptation to the standards of the entire network of playgrounds will be achieved. In addition, these works will reinforce the safety of these spaces and contribute to preserving the optimal state of the facilities dedicated to the children of the municipality.
Among the planned actions are the renovation and/or installation of a rubber pavement, the placement of safety fences and the inclusion of new children's games, in certain spaces according to the needs reflected in the technical specifications.
The Arrecife City Council allocates an "investment of 1.5 million euros" for this plan. The Consistory has had the cooperation of the First Island Institution for these works, through the Municipal Cooperation Plans between the Cabildo and the City Councils.
The Arrecife City Council, from the Children's Parks Area, tendered the works for the adaptation and legalization of the playgrounds and bio-healthy areas of the municipal district of Arrecife, for an amount of "1,550,117.19 euros", IGIC included.
