The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, revealed to King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia his love for Lanzarote on their two-day state visit to the Nordic country.

The Finnish head of state let the King and Queen know that he and his family go to the island every year to enjoy their holidays. "My family's and my history with Spain every year is actually the Santa Club and Lanzarote, where we have traveled every year since 2008, except for Covid," he said at the meeting.

"We will go there again right after my New Year's speech this year," he announced. Meanwhile, the King and Queen were smiling and nodding their heads at Stubb's statements.

"And I am not the only Finn with personal ties to Spain. Far from it. Spain is perhaps the country in the European Union that people from Finland know best," he indicated. "Every year, around 10% of the Finnish population travels on holiday to Spain. Every Finn has a story to tell about their country," the president continued telling the King and Queen.

"If 10% of Spaniards visited Finland every year, we would have around five million Spaniards here, so, welcome to the new tourist destination," he concluded.
