The Lágrimas de Malvasía vinegar from Lanzarote, named the best vinegar in the world, was in charge of dressing the dinner for the tenth anniversary of the appointment of Felipe VI. A dinner held last Wednesday at the Royal Palace in Madrid.

The Lanzarote vinegar was part of the special menu that was tasted that night in the Gala dining room of the Royal Palace, being one of the ingredients of one of the dishes and being present at the table to dress other dishes on the menu.

Lágrimas de Malvasía won Gold at the VII VINAVIN International Vinegar Competition last May 2024, an award given taking into account the raw material from which it comes (wine, fruit, cereals, etc.), the type of aging or the degree of sugar present. The Vinavin de Oro category was headed by the conejero wine, which won the distinction of the Gran Oro Especial Diputación de Córdoba Award, achieving its maximum score. In addition, the balsamic vinegar won the silver medal at the VII VINAVIN International Vinegar Competition.

"We are very happy, it is a pride for the island to have participated in this event", revealed Félix Laguna, the owner of the company to La Voz. Since the ingredients that were going to be part of the menu were known days ago, the Lanzarote vinegar has had a "great media pull", he revealed.

The person in charge of getting the product to the Royal House has been the member of the jury and owner of a restaurant in Alicante, María José San Román, who discovered the Barrica vinegar during the championship and instantly knew how to appreciate the specialty of Lágrimas de Malvasía. "She selected the best products and wanted ours, it was a surprise for her to discover it", Laguna said.

Three months ago the dinner was closed and "we were told that there was going to be an important event and that the product was going to be presented to the King", Félix pointed out.
