The president of the Parliament for Lanzarote, Astrid Pérez, wanted to congratulate Felipe VI on the tenth anniversary of his proclamation as King of Spain. "From the beginning he has shown enormous sensitivity and special affection towards the Canary Islands," the politician revealed.
In addition, Pérez has listed some of the occasions in which the King has turned to the archipelago in its difficult times, such as the COVID pandemic, the eruption of the La Palma volcano or the fires of La Gomera, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. "He has carried out displays of solidarity with the Canary Islands in those very complicated moments," he recalled.
The president also wanted to proudly show Felipe's presence in various events held in the Canary Islands, specifically, in the 54 official events in which he has participated during these 10 years. "His presence in numerous events of great social and cultural relevance for the Canary Islands highlights his great connection with this land," he added.
Thus, through the speech offered this Wednesday, he underlined that "we must highlight the commitment, affection and respect of the archipelago towards the figure of the King, a reciprocal link that makes us proud", he wanted to take the opportunity to also point out the commitment of the Canary Islands to the Spanish Royal House.
