A group of 42 retirees from Biscay who were scheduled to fly this past Friday from Lanzarote Airport to Bilbao were left on the ground after "the pilot of the Vueling airline decided not to fly due to excess weight", according to the newspaper El Correo.

This decision was made, according to airline sources who spoke with the Basque media, due to "the strong wind" that blew on the island and "the short runway at Lanzarote Airport."

It's not the first time that the company has left passengers stranded, as as La Voz already published last November, a woman who was traveling with her diabetic husband, had to stay at the airport for 20 hours along with most of the other passengers because the airline "did not offer them any hotel" after the cancellation of their flight to Barcelona.
