A young woman has been arrested, accused of causing the fire in a house in Arrecife in which a dog died.

National Police agents in Arrecife have arrested a 22-year-old woman for the fire in a house in the capital in which a dog died. According to reports from the police force, the arrested woman allegedly bought gasoline at a nearby gas station and set fire to the house, which belonged to some "friends".

It was a neighbor who alerted the National Police in the early morning that a fire had occurred in one of the adjoining buildings. Immediately, the firefighters went to the place and put out the fire, finding in one of the rooms a dog that died as a result of the fire, as the Security and Emergency Consortium reported at the time.

Specifically, the fire took place at 3 a.m. on Monday in a house on El Cribo street and, as a result, two people and several dogs had to be evacuated from the adjoining house.

Accused of a crime of damage

The police investigation determined that an acquaintance of the occupants of the house, who had a set of keys to it, had been responsible for the fire. The agents were able to verify that the aforementioned woman had bought gasoline at a nearby gas station minutes before the start of the fire and, apparently, using the keys in her possession, she accessed the property, where she poured the fuel into several rooms and started the fire.

Once located in Arrecife, the woman was arrested by the National Police as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of damage and transferred to police headquarters. After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
