The Civil Guard arrested this Tuesday a 29-year-old man, resident of Arrecife, accused of robbing a hotel in Playa Blanca and attacking an authority agent whom he tried to run over in his escape. The agents are still looking for two other people involved in these events, a man and a woman, so the investigation remains open, as confirmed to La Voz from the Civil Guard.

The events occurred this Monday afternoon, at 6:30 p.m., at the Hotel Atlantic Gardens, in Playa Blanca, which suffered a robbery in one of the rooms. From the complex they gave notice to the Civil Guard, reporting that three people involved in this theft had fled in a Fiat Punto vehicle. In addition, a hotel worker followed the vehicle in which the alleged thieves were traveling and was giving information to the Civil Guard about the route they had taken.

The Civil Guard agents deployed a device to locate the vehicle, when they already had the license plate and model, and established several controls on the roads leading out of the municipality. At 7:35 p.m., aCivil Guard patrol located the car on the LZ-702 road, at the roundabout at the entrance to the town of Femés.

When the agent, who was on the side of this road, proceeded to stop the vehicle, itperformed "a run-over maneuver",because it was "clearly" going to run him over, as it accelerated suddenly.

The civil guard had to jump into the ditch and was slightly injured. Given these events, the Civil Guard lost the vehicle, which fled at high speed. The agents gave notice to other units and began the pursuit of the car. After conducting a raid, they finally foundthe abandoned vehiclenear where the repeaters are located in Femés, in the middle of the road.

Stolen effects and arrest

The car still had the keys in, the engine hot and the doors open. In addition, near the vehicle were found the effects that had allegedly been stolen from the hotel, such as a half-buried suitcase with a safe, a backpack with a portable DVD player, two Smartphone mobile phones, a camera, several watches, cash, as well as documentation that proved the ownership of the objects and related them to clients of the affected tourist complex.

After finding the vehicle, the agents also managed to arrest one of those involved, the driver, a 29-year-old man, resident of the municipality of Arrecife, and who responds to the initials A.R.R., in the access to La Degollada at dawn. He has numerous police records, related to robberies against property. The agent who suffered the attempted hit-and-run recognized him "without any doubt".

After arresting him, the Civil Guard has charged him with four crimes. Specifically, the young man is accused of a continued crime of robbery with force, of an attack against an authority agent, another crime against road safety because he lacked a driving license, and another crime of theft of use of the vehicle, since the car in which they fled was stolen on Monday in Arrecife.

In addition, as a result of the vehicle search, a series of indications were obtained that relate A.R.R. to another robbery with force committed in another tourist establishment, also in Playa Blanca.

The recovered effects have already been returned to their rightful owners. The Civil Guard continues to search for a man and a woman, who are also involved in these events, so it does not rule out more arrests. The arrested person has been placed at the disposal of the corresponding Arrecife Duty Court.
