Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife arrested this past Monday around 12:44 PM two men, natives of Lanzarote and residents of the island, for an alleged crime of copper theft, of high value, in the facilities of the Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Consortium of Lanzarote, located in the vicinity of the LZ-34.
The agents, on patrol in the Argana Alta neighborhood, were requested by their counterparts from the Local Police of Teguise, who received a telephone call alerting them to the theft of material at the Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Consortium of Water of Lanzarote next to the LZ-34.
The agents from Arrecife, commissioned at the scene, where agents from the Local Police of Teguise were also present, indicated that they would take charge of the intervention, and detected that the access door to the Wastewater Treatment Plant was open, "with a crowbar inside and a broken padlock". The local agents from Arrecife carried out a sweep of the area and found two individuals hidden inside with signs of nervousness.
The agents noted that the place was quite disturbed and with indications that copper had been stolen, with a high monetary valuation.
From the Local Police of Arrecife, they contacted the managers of the Water Consortium, to whom they informed of what had happened and confirmed that they would file a complaint.
The agents of the Local Police of Arrecife transferred these arrested males, aged 20 and 39 respectively, to the Police Station of the National Police Corps for their placement at the disposal of the judicial authority. Along with the detainees, the Local Police provided the seized tools (crowbar, wrench, chisel, sledgehammer, lug wrench, the forced padlock, and photographs taken in the area).
