Teguise has registered several acts of vandalism in different parts of the municipality during the past weekend, which are already being investigated by the Local Police. "In addition to the containers burned in two streets of the town of Tahiche, whose fire was extinguished on Saturday night by the firefighters of Lanzarote, the Historic Site of La Villa dawned on Friday with the bathrooms of the Plaza de La Mareta destroyed, as well as graffiti on street furniture, playgrounds, public buildings and heritage assets of Teguise," they denounce from the City Council.

The Local Police of Teguise is investigating these and other acts of vandalism that also occurred in marquees and other spaces on Avenida de Las Cucharas in Costa Teguise, which are already being repaired and repainted by municipal workers.

The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, has denounced through his social networks how "lamentable and outrageous it is to see how some people dedicate themselves to destroying street furniture and setting fire to containers, with the risk that this entails in addition to the public expense."

"These intentional acts constitute a crime in view of the amount of damage caused," explained Miguel Ángel Jiménez, head of the Local Police of Teguise, who joins the mayor's request to ask for "maximum citizen collaboration if anyone observes anything that could help us to tackle this problem, by calling 112 or the Local Police of Teguise on 928 84 52 52."
