The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium had to intervene on Sunday afternoon to extinguish a fire in two containers in Arrecife.

After being alerted by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES), the firefighters moved at 4:40 p.m. to Alfonso XIII street in the capital. Upon arriving at the place, a lot of black smoke came out of a glass recycling container, which was burning in its entirety. The flames also affected a second nearby container, for organic waste.

Firefighters put out the flames with water and told residents to close their windows to prevent smoke from entering their homes.

Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife and later of the National Police moved to the place. Once the fire was extinguished, they informed the fire station and the CECOES and ended the service.
