The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise arrested two people on May 12 and 16 for drug trafficking after intercepting different amounts of hashish in the random controls carried out at the Órzola dock, in order to comply with the mobility measures between the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
In a first action, the Civil Guard arrested a person with initials C.J.R.P. and 57 years of age when he was caught with half a kilo of hashish, when he was about to take one of the boats that travel to La Graciosa.
The events took place during the morning of the 12th, when the agents were carrying out citizen security work and observed "a person in a suspicious attitude" in the vicinity of the pier. When asked about the reasons that justified his presence on public roads, they verified that C.J.R.P. was going to get on one of the boats that left for La Graciosa, "showing a nervous attitude at all times." This led the Civil Guard to inspect his belongings, but at that moment the man ran away to try to escape.
"While he was fleeing, he took out a package that he had hidden in his pants to throw it into the sea, being immediately intercepted by the agents, verifying that it was 500 grams of hashish dispersed in five pieces of equal size," they point out from the Civil Guard, which arrested the man for a crime of drug trafficking.
Arrested with almost 100 grams of hashish in the shopping bag
In the other action carried out four days later in the same area of the port of Órzola, the Civil Guard arrested a person with initials F.R.G and 55 years of age, who was carrying 99.7 grams of hashish and 235 euros divided into bills of various values.
On this occasion, the Civil Guard observed a group of people in the vicinity of the boarding area and detected a "nervous attitude" in one of them. When addressing him, he told them that he lived in La Graciosa, where he was returning after having traveled to Lanzarote to do the shopping.
The agents then reviewed the contents of the shopping bags and found a pill of about 100 grams of hashish hidden among a frozen food, so they proceeded to arrest him for the alleged authorship of a crime against public health.
Both detainees and the seized drug have been placed at the disposal of the corresponding duty court of Arrecife.
