The investigation into the murder of Josué Delgado, also known as El Conejero, took an unexpected turn following the statement of Diego Ferney P. N., the latest detainee in the case. The young Colombian stated that the hitmen responsible for the crime may have mistaken their target, confusing Delgado with the real intended victim: the owner of a martial arts gym in Telde.
According to his testimony, they traveled to Gran Canaria after receiving an assignment from Colombia to monitor and subsequently execute the fighter, for a total payment of 60,000 euros. Ferney, however, refused to carry out the final part of the plan and explained that the organization was forced to find another hitman, who allegedly made the fatal mistake.
The National Police maintains this hypothesis after analyzing the statements and intercepted conversations between those involved. In them, one of the hitmen admits that the crime was "a screw-up, very mild, very screwed up," reinforcing the theory that the murder of El Conejero was due to a mistake precipitated by haste and the physical resemblance between the two men.
Now, agents are focusing the investigation on **locating the woman who accompanied Ferney** during his stay on the island and who provided him with photographs, addresses, and details of the supposed target. Her role would have been key in preparing the operation that ended with the mistaken death of Josué Delgado.
