Robberies of crops in Lanzarote are back. The Island Council echoed during the weekend, the new looting that has occurred these days. This time, "thousands of kilos of potatoes and sweet potatoes" have been snatched, which have meant a daily effort for the island's farmers.
From the Cabildo highlight the sadness that these events produce. "Today it hurts us to share that our farmers are being victims of devastating robberies," they make clear through their Instagram account.
A news that negatively affects the crops of the whole island, but also the daily work of farmers, who consequently, see all the effort lost. "This not only affects the crops, but also the families that depend on them!, they have added from the Cabildo with much indignation.
They encourage to denounce
The Corporation wanted to launch a message so that the people of Lanzarote are encouraged to denounce what happened. "We ask the community to unite against this injustice and denounce it. We are not only losing crops, we are losing our way of life!", they emphasize. In addition, they declare the importance of collaborating to prevent robberies from continuing to happen. "Let's notify the security agents of each municipality".
For their part, many users have empathized with the farmers and wanted to underline their position against the robberies that have taken place. "With how hard the work in the field is and on top of that they steal from them... what anger", one of them pointed out. They ask for "justice" to put an end to the robberies that cause so much instability in the sector and defend an island free of insecurity. "We have to look for them and judge them! Lanzarote was always a safe and respectful place for the inhabitants! This outrage cannot be allowed", they conclude.
