The Zonzamas landfill suffered a new fire on Sunday afternoon, the eve of San Juan. On this occasion, the fire affected garbage that was in the upper area of the environmental center, according to the Emergency Consortium.
Once alerted by the CECOES, the firefighters went to the place and verified that the mechanical shovels were already working in the center. The Consortium truck was dedicated to cooling the area to ensure that the fire did not burn the mechanical shovels while they were extinguishing the affected area with earth.
Later, another chain mechanical shovel was incorporated, which accelerated the extinction process, and finally, a truck with sand was incorporated to shorten the displacement to the machines and have earth in the burned area.
Once the fire was extinguished, the machines remained filling the entire burned perimeter with earth, thus guaranteeing that it would not be activated.
