The young man who was deliberately run over at the Arrecife Fairgrounds last January has already been discharged from the hospital. According to sources close to the family, David left the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Monday and is already in Lanzarote. "Everything is fine, recovered," these sources have indicated, explaining that he only needs to "gain strength" in one leg.

David was run over in the early hours of January 27 "after a fight" that occurred at the Fairgrounds of the capital, and after that, he was evacuated to the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Gran Canaria "in critical condition." "We are having a very hard time," said David's brother at the time, explaining that he was in an induced coma and had suffered a chest trauma that had caused one of his lungs to stop working, in addition to a head trauma and a blow to the eye.

However, the family then showed "hope," and finally, after being in the ICU for nearly a month and two weeks on the ward, David has returned home.

The driver was sent to provisional prison

It should be remembered that the driver who allegedly ran over David, a 24-year-old man with the initials A.D., was sent to provisional prison by the judge of the Court of Instruction number 2 of Arrecife, charged with a crime of attempted homicide. According to the National Police, the hit-and-run was "conscious and premeditated."

According to the police force at the time, both were fighting with their fists when A.D. got into a vehicle and deliberately ran over David. Afterward, the driver left the scene driving "recklessly," but returned and tried to run him over again, "drifting a few meters from the area where the victim was lying."

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found David lying on the ground and in "a pool of blood," and the driver had fled again. However, thanks to the information they gathered from witnesses, they managed to locate the alleged perpetrator at a gas station on the San Bartolomé road. "I don't understand how these things can happen. With common sense, who would think of running people over there?" the victim's brother wondered at the time, even stating that the arrested man's father had contacted them to ask for "forgiveness."
