The strong wind forced this Sunday to divert six flights, which were scheduled to land in Lanzarote, to other islands of the Canary archipelago. As reported by AENA (Spanish Airports and Air Navigation), three flights had to be diverted to Fuerteventura, another two landed at the airport of Tenerife South and the remaining one in Gran Canaria.
The company that manages a large part of the airports in Spain has reported that this Monday flights are already taking off and landing normally.
The César Manrique airport recorded wind gusts of 52 kilometers per hour this Sunday, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMet). Likewise, AEMET has activated the yellow warning for coastal phenomena, which will be activated until 1:00 p.m. this Monday. In the north and west there will be combined sea from the northwest with waves of 4 to 5 meters.
Another incident due to wind
The wind has caused the fall of a lamppost in the municipality of Haría. The incident occurred at 05.40 hours in Cueva de los Verdes street, in Punta Mujeres.
As reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium, the lamppost was in the middle of the road when they arrived. Subsequently, they proceeded to disconnect the lamppost from the current and remove it from the road.
