The unions represented in the Tahíche Penitentiary Center have sent a joint press release to denounce that an inmate “threatened to kill a female official and tried to attack her”, in what they claim is “another aggression” against the workers.

In this case, they maintain that the inmate is Muslim and even link this episode to level 4 of high risk in which Spain finds itself “due to the jihadist terrorist threat.”

“With more reason, precautions must be taken in this type of situation”, the unions demand, which emphasize that “the obligation of the center's management is to inform the Prosecutor's Office of any aggression suffered by an official of Penitentiary Institutions.”

However, they criticize that those responsible for the prison “limited themselves to changing the inmate's department”, which “causes these violent hostile situations to be repeated daily.

Therefore, they request “the prompt rectification by the management team and that the inmate be transferred from the center.”
