The strong swell that affected Lanzarote on this past Sunday and Monday has caused new damage to the walkway of La Garita beach, in Arrieta.
As you will remember, the island was on yellow alert due to coastal phenomena with waves that reached five meters in height.
This northern area of the island was especially affected by this situation, leaving several wooden planks of the walkway broken and holes of more than a meter in the base of the structure, as well as damage to the access supports.
In addition, the force of the sea also has lifted part of the concrete surface of the pier.
It is not the first time this walkway suffers damage due to the strong swell. In 2015, an intense storm caused serious damage to the structure and forced its closure for several years. After reopening it, there have been several occasions on which it has suffered damage from the waves.
