Playa de La Garita beach has registered incidents this Sunday, February 15, after the intense waves affecting the island's coast. The force of the sea has caused the breakage of the last railing providing access to the island via the boardwalk, leaving the structure even more deteriorated.

The sandy area remains with a red flag due to adverse maritime conditions. Since this Saturday, Lanzarote has been on yellow alert for wind and coastal phenomena, which has generated strong swell and intense gusts in different parts of the coast.

The continued impact of the waves against the walkway has finally given way the railing that remained standing, evidencing the vulnerability of the structure to episodes of adverse sea.

Authorities insist on the importance of respecting signage and avoiding approaching areas exposed to waves while the alert is maintained, with the objective of preventing accidents.
