Agents on duty from the Fiscal Section of the Lanzarote Airport, together with an UDAIFF agent from the same unit, under the functional dependence of the Customs Administrator and II.EE of the Tax Agency, carried out on June 29, 2025 the arrest of a 27-year-old British citizen, as allegedly responsible for a crime against Public Health.
During a routine inspection in the Patio de Carrillos area of Terminal T2 (Island Flights), the presence of narcotic substances, valued at 7,261 euros, was detected in his checked luggage.
Within the framework of the functions of Fiscal Protection of the State and in compliance with actions aimed at preventing and combating smuggling, the agents proceeded to inspect the checked luggage on a
flight to Reina Sofía Airport (Tenerife South). During a random check, a suitcase was identified that had an unusually low weight in relation to its size and gave off a strong odor.
These events occurred on June 29, 2025, when the agents, suspecting that a suitcase might contain prohibited substances, located its owner and proceeded to inspect it in his presence.
Inside they found four heat-sealed and vacuum-packed bags, each with approximately one kilogram of marijuana buds, totaling 4 kilograms. For all the above, he was arrested and subsequently brought before the Investigating Court number 1 of Arrecife, on guard duty.
