The National Police searched eight homes in the municipalities of Arrecife, Tinajo and Teguise and in the town of Órzola, as part of the anti-drug operation that resulted in the arrest of six people, five men and one woman, as La Voz exclusively reported.
During this police operation, one kilogram of cocaine, 315 kilograms of hashish, 63,000 euros in cash, nine vehicles, two boats and two jet skis were seized.
Thus, the six people arrested by the National Police in a macro-operation against drug trafficking in Arrecife and Tinajo, according to La Voz reported, are between 39 and 28 years old, one of them with a police record.
In addition, according to the National Police, they are charged with the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, drug trafficking and one of them also for illegal possession of weapons.
The National Police, as a result of various information, became aware that a criminal organization was introducing large quantities of drugs on the coasts of Lanzarote. For this reason, an exhaustive police investigation began in the middle of last year, where they were able to confirm how an organized group of people introduced drugs on the coasts of the municipality of Órzola.
For the introduction of narcotics, one of the members of the organization, an expert fisherman in the area and a great connoisseur of the sea, used his boats to go to meeting points in the high seas to collect the drugs that he would later take to the coast.
Once he arrived at the beaches of Órzola, and together with other members of the organization, they unloaded and hid the drugs in several homes.
Another reason for the agents' suspicion that led them to investigate these people was the high standard of living they led, despite the fact that many of them did not have paid jobs.
The six detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered the immediate imprisonment of five of them and released the woman on bail, as this editorial staff reported.
