The sinking of a tuna boat this Tuesday in Puerto Naos, in Arrecife, has forced the authorities to activate the pre-alert of the Insular Emergency Plan for maritime pollution after a spill of about 10,000 liters of diesel fuel originated from the ship.
According to reports from the Emergency Consortium, this stain has a diameter of 30 meters by 15.
The events occurred around 1:00 PM this Tuesday, when this boat called Monte Arballu, was docked in the port and had a leak for some time, but it was not repaired.
Due to this, the tuna boat ended up sinking this very Tuesday. After this, the Port Authority has marked the boat and two anti-pollution barriers have been deployed.
An expert company in the field will now refloat the boat, as pointed out by Enrique Espinosa, manager of the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium.
