The number of people affected by the salmonellosis outbreak in an Asian restaurant in the Argana neighborhood of Arrecife has increased to 45, as confirmed to La Voz by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Public Health initiated an investigation that began last September when it became known that several people were experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, fever and diarrhea, etc. after celebrating a birthday at the Arrecife establishment. The first cases were treated in the Emergency Room at the Valterra Health Center and none required hospitalization.
Throughout the epidemiological survey, new affected people were detected, who at no time needed medical attention, confirm Health sources. In addition, they make it clear that the bacteria causing these intoxications was salmonella, since at first it was considered that some other bacteria could have been the cause of the poor condition in which the restaurant's customers were.
Public Health ordered the closure of the restaurant, which remains closed to this day.
