National Police anti-drug operation in Lanzarote

The anti-drug operation carried out by the National Police last October finally resulted in 9 arrests of people between 25 and 67 years of age, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organization. After being brought to justice, three of them have been imprisoned and the others are free on charges.

The National Police initiated this operation after learning that a person residing in Arrecife was allegedly distributing large quantities of drugs to people who came to their home for later sale on the island.

This person, leader of the criminal organization, supplied narcotics to his collaborators who came to his house and left with bags and backpacks containing drugs for later sale. In addition, the high standard of living that this person led made the agents suspect even more of his involvement in a drug trafficking crime.

The police operation carried out seven searches of homes, four in Arrecife, one in Yé, another in Punta Mujeres and the last in Teguise. In these records, 30 kilos of coca, 40 kilos of hashish, 150 grams of methamphetamine, 200,000 euros in cash were found and a zodiac, a rally car, four cars and a motorcycle were seized. In addition, a shotgun and a compressed air pistol, an axe and a dagger were located.
