The motor world of Lanzarote is shocked after the death of Carlos Escalonilla. The 37-year-old man died this Sunday after a head-on collision with a vehicle in Teguise. The accident occurred around 12:00 noon at kilometer 30 of the LZ-1 towards Órzola.
"He told us that he was in the happiest stage of his life, he had just become a father with his partner and the smile didn't fit on his face," says one of his friends and fellow hobbyists. "He was a reference for many, it is unfair that life takes away people as faithful and loyal as him," he continues.
The biker club to which he belonged, Babosas a Saco, shared images of their motorcycle outings around the island through Facebook. "Bursts to the sky," lamented one of his sports colleagues after the biker's death.
The Moteros de Lanzarote platform joined the lamentations of his club, which conveyed its condolences to the family and colleagues of Babosas a Saco for the loss of their companion on the road.
According to the Emergency Coordinating Center (Cecoes), the patient was in cardiorespiratory arrest for 20 minutes before the ambulance arrived. Emergency services tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. However, the motorcycle driver had fractures and severe internal bleeding, while the car driver had minor injuries. Escalonilla was then transferred to the José Molina Orosa University Hospital.
