Arrecife is registering a rise in uncivil damage in public spaces that have been conditioned or recovered in recent months for the enjoyment of citizens. The Arrecife City Council recalls that vandalism on street furniture is punishable and requests citizen collaboration.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, directly responsible for the Local Police and the Department of Public Works, requests citizen collaboration to provide photographs or videos where the authors who cause this damage in public spaces can be identified, more accentuated in the new street furniture.

Yonathan de León details that the Local Police, in response to alerts from residents, carries out investigations and proposes financial penalties when those vandals who damage the city's public spaces with their incivility are identified.

The mayor recalls that it has been detected that trees have been uprooted recently planted in different roads of the capital of Lanzarote, within the plans to provide new shade areas to the city.

Likewise, the underground bridge that connects the neighborhoods of San Francisco Javier and Argana, under the Circunvalación road, has suffered different damages after being recently recovered and rehabilitated. Likewise, the surroundings of Pedro Alcántara square, in the center of the city, has had to be conditioned after recently suffering different damages to its street furniture, after a significant investment for its modernization.

The mayor has assigned several teams of operators from the Department of Public Works for the maintenance and recovery of public spaces in the neighborhoods, areas that suffer damage after being remodeled. Yonathan de León, who has several initiatives underway to enhance the gardens, public spaces and places of coexistence in the neighborhoods, asks to respect the street furniture and the common elements of all, because the city's money is being invested in replacing what suffers vandalism damage.

The Arrecife City Council reminds that the Municipal Government will exercise civil and criminal actions against offenders. In addition, it details that the Municipal Legal Advice is exercising the private prosecution against the 'arsonist' author of different container fires, a person who is in pre-trial detention by judicial decision.
