After having searched the Los Hervideros area again this Wednesday without success, the Civil Guard has suspended for now the search at sea for the body of Romina Celeste. The Civil Guard continues with the investigation and with the technical-ocular inspection of both the marital home and the vehicle that the husband supposedly rented to get rid of the young woman's body and Raúl Díaz Cachón's work office.
The Civil Guard began the search for Romina Celeste's body on the coast on Monday, searching the Los Hervideros and Los Ancones areas, after her husband declared after being arrested that he had found his wife dead when he arrived home and that he had thrown her body into the sea at these points in Lanzarote.
However, the Civil Guard is not certain that Raúl Díaz Cachón actually got rid of the body in this way and, therefore, and given the limited possibilities of finding remains due to the time elapsed, it has been decided to cautiously suspend the search until new evidence is found, according to sources close to the investigation.
Regarding the technical-ocular inspection of the house, it will continue on Thursday, while it is expected that it will be this Friday when the car that Romina's husband supposedly rented to get rid of the body will be thoroughly searched, according to his testimony. The agents are also waiting to inspect Raúl Díaz Cachón's work office, which is sealed off.
Provisional prison for homicide or murder and for habitual abuse
It should be remembered that Romina Celeste's husband appeared in court this Wednesday, with the judge of the Court of Instruction number 1 of Arrecife ordering his admission to provisional prison without bail for the alleged commission of the crimes of habitual abuse and homicide or murder of his wife. And it is that, although Raúl Díaz Cachón only confessed to having found his wife dead and having disposed of the body, the judge has considered that there is sufficient evidence to consider him also responsible for the death and charge him with homicide or murder.
The difference between the two crimes lies mainly in whether there was premeditation in the crime, which is what is intended to be determined during the investigation. Thus, the qualification will be specified throughout the investigation.
