On July 12, 2025, the operational services center (C.O.S.), in Gran Canaria, requested the intervention of the patrols on duty in Costa Teguise and San Bartolomé, after receiving a call from
a citizen, who reported a disturbance of public order in the middle of the road. According to the notice, it involved two people, and one of them was carrying a knife of considerable size, in addition to presenting visible wounds that caused bleeding.

When the patrol arrived at the scene, the officers approached a woman who would later identify herself as the person who had made the alert call. Upon observing her, they noticed that she had abundant traces of blood on her clothes and body. However, the woman assured them that she had no significant injuries, except for a small cut she had made while trying to snatch a knife from her partner, with the sole intention of preventing him from continuing to harm himself.

At all times, the woman emphasized that she had not been attacked nor had she feared for her integrity. She also explained that her partner was going through a crisis derived from mental health problems at that moment and that, in reality, he was suffering a psychotic episode. Thanks to the information provided and the collaborative tone of the woman, the officers were able to better understand the situation and act accordingly.

After what happened, the person present kindly indicated to the patrol the direction in which her partner had escaped. She was not sure if he was still carrying the knife. The officers began the
search and, upon locating the individual, they encountered a complicated situation: he did not respond to the indications and seemed disoriented, visibly agitated, and very violent.

At one point, the man lunged at one of the officers, trying to snatch his weapon. A struggle ensued, during which the officers acted with great caution, trying to balance their own safety with the need to avoid causing more harm to the individual, who clearly was not in full use of his faculties. In addition, he showed signs of having suffered serious injuries, as he was bleeding profusely and babbling words in English, without the officers being able to confirm yet whether he was carrying the knife.

Finally, after a tense moment, they managed to calm the affected person just in time for the emergency services to attend to him. Both she and her partner were quickly transferred to the Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife, accompanied at all times by the patrol, which remained with them until both were admitted and out of danger.
