The Civil Guard of Lanzarote, within the framework of Operation NENI, arrested on March 30 a 65-year-old person for a crime against public health as he is the alleged responsible for a drug sales point at retail which he had installed in his own home, located in Puerto del Carmen.
These actions have been carried out after establishing a series of investigations carried out since December of last year, within the framework of a police operation aimed at combating drugs on the island of Lanzarote.
The investigation began in December of last year, within the framework of a police operation aimed at combating drugs on the island of Lanzarote, due to constant complaints from neighbors and hotel complexes in the vicinity and on the island, resulting from this police activity that the large influx of people, mostly residents and some minors, entered this home, bought the narcotic substance and left quickly.
As a result of the numerous evidences of the illicit activity, it was possible to verify how consumers carried the drug when leaving the investigated's house. With these police investigations, the exploitation phase of the operation was carried out, carrying out an entry and search of the home authorized by the head of court number 4 of Arrecife, as there was sufficient evidence that it constituted an active point of retail drug sales.
As a result of this search, an 80-gram plate of hashish, other smaller quantities of hashish ready for sale and also dosed marijuana were seized, in addition to tools for the preparation and weighing of the drug such as a precision scale, a large knife, different types of bags and wrappings for its distribution, cash and various documentation.
With this police action, the drug sales point has been completely dismantled, the detainee being placed at the disposal of the court and the investigation remains open, not ruling out future police actions. This operation has been carried out with the support and collaboration provided by the different units of the Civil Guard of Tías and Costa Teguise, as well as members of the Local Police of Tías.
