The Specialist Group in Deactivation of Explosive Devices (GEDEX) of the Civil Guard of Lanzarote, has proceeded to carry out a controlled explosion of 1 artillery projectile that was in the vicinity of the Haria viewpoint.
On June 27 at about 12 hours, a call was received from a citizen at the Civil Guard Barracks of Costa Teguise in relation to the discovery of a projectile on the slopes of the Haría viewpoint.
On the same day, the EDEX on duty (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team) is contacted by telephone to arrange an appointment with the author of the discovery in order to certify that it is indeed an explosive device and proceed to its destruction.
Due to the particular's schedule commitments, it was not possible to move to the site of the discovery until Tuesday the 29th at 5 p.m. Once at the site of the discovery, which is very difficult to access due to the steep slope of the slopes of the aforementioned Haría viewpoint, it can be certified that it is an 81 mm caliber mortar grenade, which is in very poor condition.
After adopting the appropriate security measures, a controlled explosion was carried out for the destruction of the aforementioned projectile, in situ.
