Stranded Cetacean on Playa Blanca

The Civil Guard has assisted a stranded cetacean on Playa Dorada in the tourist town of Playa Banca. The events occurred this Tuesday at 08:30 hours when an alertant reported these events through 112.

The Civil Guard of Yaiza, the Rapid Intervention Group (GIR), members of the Local Police of the municipality and a researcher component of the Canary Islands Network of Stranded Cetaceans working in collaboration with the Environment have come to the place, which under specialized supervision have tried to recover the animal without success as it finally died on the shore.

It is a subadult common male dolphin of more than two meters and has already been transferred to the authorized place where its corresponding necropsy will be performed.

From the Benemérita recommend that in the event of sighting this type of mammals call the emergency telephone 112 and follow the instructions of professionals because in many cases they seek to leave the sea and reintroducing them is not the best option.
