The Civil Guard of Lanzarote, within the framework of the “Virginia Operation”, arrested on October 25 a 36-year-old person for the alleged commission of the crime of robbery with force, robbery with climbing and theft by committing 20 robberies and thefts in 4 hotel establishments in Playa Blanca-Yaiza, whose total approximate value is 25,000 euros.
The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Yaiza, initiated an investigation as a result of the significant increase in robberies and thefts in the police district of Yaiza, reaching its peak the previous week, with practically a daily criminal offense taking place.
From the result of the technical-ocular inspections, the Civil Guard was able to determine that the alleged perpetrator perpetrated the robberies by climbing walls whose height in some cases exceeded 2 meters, breaking windows and sliding doors in others, also carrying out thefts in apartments where the doors or windows were open. Therefore, the Civil Guard intensified surveillance in the affected areas, carrying out an exhaustive monitoring of the most affected complexes, with the circumstance that on October 18, when perpetrating a robbery with climbing in an inhabited house in an apartment accessing through the climbing through the wall that borders the semi-detached house, in which he climbed the interior stairs, meeting a resident on the upper floor, which is why he left, leaving behind a bag with objects from other robberies.
The recovery of these objects led the Civil Guard to relate the criminal acts that were being carried out in a specific area of Playa Blanca to a single authorship. In addition, the investigated is recognized by the affected party, being a well-known regular of the investigators, who was inactive for having been serving a significant prison sentence for similar events.
Police investigations entry and search
The Guard collected a series of indications based on the analysis of the security cameras in the affected areas, verifying how the alleged perpetrator enters the home, with a plastic bag, and when passing in front of the camera, tries to hide, but the investigating agents recognize him without any doubt.
However, and to contrast this information, the nearby security cameras were analyzed, verifying that these captured details such as the same clothing with which the robberies were perpetrated, also coinciding in the space-time line.
These police investigations led the Civil Guard to obtain sufficient evidence to support an entry and search of the home of the alleged perpetrator that took place on October 25, seizing pieces of clothing that he used in the robberies and verified with the recordings, as well as finding a multitude of objects, which were later recognized as their own by several victims, which led to gathering even more evidence to incriminate the subject.
The detainee was brought to judicial disposition together with the proceedings carried out, decreeing by the judicial authority his imprisonment, continuing the Civil Guard with the investigation in order to locate and return the objects seized in the home.
