The Civil Guard in Lanzarote arrested a 25-year-old woman last Saturday, January 20, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, for carrying more than 800 grams of cocaine in a package inside her backpack when disembarking at the port of Arrecife, Lanzarote.

On the day of the events, the Civil Guard of Fiscal and Borders of Costa Teguise identified several people who were disembarking at the Port of Arrecife during a regular control of passengers from a ferry from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. According to the statement issued by the Benemérita, the agents were able to detect how a woman "was in a state of certain nervousness and a visibly suspicious attitude in the presence of the agents", which is why they proceeded to identify her.

During the identification, the Civil Guard decided to carry out a superficial search of her belongings and a more exhaustive search of the backpack she was carrying, finding a package weighing 824 grams, which, when applying the narcotest reagent, tested positive for cocaine.

Therefore, the corresponding proceedings were instructed, and she was placed at the disposal of the Arrecife Duty Court, and the detained woman was released that same day.
