The Civil Guard reported ten people between January 23 and 24 for traveling from Lanzarote to Fuerteventura without justified cause.

As explained in a statement, the surveillance device was established in the majorero port of Corralejo, following Lanzarote's entry into alert level 4, which prohibits departures and entries to the island except for work or medical reasons, among other very specific causes.

The only exception is that of tourists, who can enter the islands in alert levels 3 and 4 if they are going to stay in an accommodation establishment.

After the entry into force of these measures, la Guardia Civil points out that it has “intensified surveillance in the shipping companies”, and specifically the connections with the Corralejo dock, to “verify and check the transit of people and compliance with health regulations”.

As a result of these random controls carried out last weekend, a total of ten people were identified who “did not duly accredit the maritime transfer”.

The Civil Guard also warns that these controls of maritime passenger traffic will be maintained between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura “until the epidemiological conditions of Covid19 and its different levels allow the full circulation of passengers between the islands”.
