The strong waves forced this Saturday to close the access to the pier of Playa Chica or Pila de la Barrilla in Puerto del Carmen. The volunteer firefighters of Tías (Boluntis) alerted by the Local Police were in charge of taking measures so that tourists or residents would not access the pier for risk of falling into the sea.
In addition, this Sunday the beaches of Matagorda, Playa Grande, Playa Chica and Los Pocillos have a red flag, as reported by the Emergency Consortium.
As will be recalled, this Saturday Lanzarote was on pre-alert for strong winds decreed by the Government of the Canary Islands. In fact, in La Graciosa, gusts of 74 kilometers per hour were recorded in the morning and in Tinajo it reached 61 kilometers per hour.
This Sunday the intensity of the wind is expected to decrease, especially in the afternoon. The haze will also subside in the last hours of the day.
